Great American State Fair Coming to Washington, D.C.
A 110-foot Ferris wheel, state pavilions, and various patriotic celebrations will be on display at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. This event, which lasts for 16 days, is part of the Great American State Fair that marks the country’s 250th anniversary.
Doug Burgum, Secretary of the Interior, expressed gratitude for President Donald J. Trump’s leadership in bringing this event to life. He stated, “The Great American State Fair brings together all 50 states and six territories in one place to showcase the people, landscapes, and traditions that define our nation.”
Event organizers made the announcement on Tuesday, emphasizing that the fair will span from the U.S. Capitol to the Washington Monument, uniting all states and territories for a grand national celebration.
Freedom 250, a bipartisan group aiding in the America 250 initiative, noted that the fair will include food, games, exhibits, and attractions designed to highlight the country’s culture, history, and innovation.
Images recently released show a bird’s-eye view of the planned fairgrounds, featuring the Ferris wheel, alongside the renovated Smithsonian Merry-Go-Round, which will also participate in the festivities.
All U.S. states and six territories have received invitations from the White House’s Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. Keith Clack, CEO of Freedom 250, mentioned, “Bound together by a common promise, our nation is a diverse union of states and territories, distinct in character, unified in purpose, and driven by the enduring pursuit of freedom.”
Clack further emphasized that this summer’s event aims to bring that spirit to life, celebrating the innovation and pride that characterize America as it commemorates its 250th birthday.
The global expanse of the fair will feature pavilions that center around five national themes: “Made in America,” “American Heartland,” “American Innovates,” “The American Canvas,” and “Faith & Family.” Additional events will honor occasions like Military Appreciation Day and Wings of Freedom.
Historically, the United States has hosted more than 20 variations of World’s Fairs since the first one in Philadelphia in 1876. The trade show is set to officially begin with an event called “American Canon: Opening Day” on Thursday, June 25th, marking the start of this national expo.
