Illegal Immigrant with Violent History Arrested in Philadelphia Suburb
A Jamaican national, Christopher Leon Bailey, 27, has been apprehended by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after a violent street assault in Ridley Township, Pennsylvania. His arrest follows a previous encounter with local law enforcement related to a road rage incident that took place back in January.
According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Bailey is suspected of instigating the altercation during a near-collision. Reports indicate that he allegedly displayed a knife, attempted to stab the victim, then pursued him in his vehicle—ultimately hitting him in the process. I guess this kind of aggression is alarming, to say the least.
The Ridley Township Police Department has not provided any updates on the victim’s condition, and DHS reported that Bailey fled the scene right after the incident.
Charges against Bailey include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, reckless endangerment, possession of an instrument of crime, and reckless driving. The severity of the allegations escalated to attempted murder, with these charges now pending in Delaware County Court.
Bailey was taken into custody by ICE at the county courthouse during a scheduled bail hearing. It’s worth noting that ICE reached out to the Ridley Township police to inquire about their collaboration in Bailey’s arrest, but no immediate response was available.
“The crime spree of illegal aliens in our country is over,” commented Lauren Biss, the acting DHS assistant secretary, in an email statement.
Interestingly, Bailey had overstayed his tourist visa since 2009. He was previously detained by ICE in 2023 due to immigration violations, yet an immigration judge, under the administration of former President Biden, deemed him not a public danger and authorized his release on bond. It’s a peculiar decision given that his criminal background includes robbery, theft, and more, particularly in New York City.
In 2020, he faced charges in New York for possessing a loaded firearm and, by 2022, he had a conviction for firearm possession in Kings County. Biss expressed outrage, stating, “This repeat offender was released… allowing him to victimize even more innocent Americans.” It’s a bit unsettling, really.
Biss further remarked that the law enforcement efforts have successfully kept “this threat to public safety” away from the community. As of now, there hasn’t been any comment from a spokesperson for Biden regarding this case, and Bailey’s lawyer has yet to respond to inquiries.
