In a press release, the Arizona Attorney General said former Trump campaign lawyer Jenna Ellis has agreed to cooperate with the “fake electors” investigation in exchange for having the charges against her dropped.
“This agreement marks a major step forward in our case, and I want to thank Ms. Ellis for her assistance in the investigation and prosecution,” Attorney General Chris Mays said. statement.

The attorney general’s office announced in April that it had obtained indictments against 18 Republican officials who allegedly participated in a conspiracy to claim they were the true electors in the 2020 presidential election and keep former President Donald Trump in the Oval Office.
Those indicted include former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. Ellis was charged with nine felony counts, including fraud, forgery and conspiracy.
“As I said when the initial charges were announced, I will not allow American democracy to be undermined. That is crucial. Today’s announcement is a victory for the rule of law,” Mays concluded.
The Arizona indictment names Trump as an unindicted co-conspirator.
In a statement in April, Governor Mayes accused the 18 of trying to undermine voter rights.
“Had this plan succeeded, Arizona voters would have been denied the right to vote for the president of their choice,” Mays wrote. “In effect, their right to vote would have been rendered meaningless.”
Ellis pleaded. Guilty He was arrested in Georgia in October on felony election-related charges and was suspended from practicing law in Colorado for three years.
Recently, Ellis Criticized Republicans have weakened their party’s position on abortion.
“The Republican platform has always been pro-life and has never hidden away from issues behind federalism,” Ellis wrote. “No conservative should support this.”
