Arnold Schwarzenegger reveals an uncomfortable reality

When it comes to driving Big Oil out of California, Democrats have been quite relentless.

Gavin Newsom and his team have spent years criticizing fossil fuels, piling on taxes and regulations that have pushed many oil companies to downsize or relocate.

So, what’s the outcome? It’s not good.

Former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger recently highlighted this at his climate summit in Austria, pointing fingers at Democrats for forcing refineries to leave the state and relying on oil imports to make up for the gaps, all while producing the emissions they claim to oppose.

In fact, due to the rush for green policies, California is seen as one of the pricier states.

Extremely left-leaning policies have led to increased costs for gasoline, energy, electronics, housing, and various goods transported by fossil fuel vehicles—all essential needs for Californians.

This push for environmentally friendly legislation often restricts consumer choices and has put a strain on the state’s energy infrastructure, causing rolling blackouts. Alarmingly, California now depends on foreign sources for about 60% to 75% of its oil needs.

So, what’s the point? California’s climate regulations barely impact global temperature changes.

And while Schwarzenegger criticizes the Democrats’ anti-oil stance, it’s worth noting that his own policies contributed to the current crisis.

During his two terms, he helped enact various environmental measures that have only added to costs. The goal was to benefit the environment, but it’s resulted in a mixed legacy that paved the way for the current chaos.

Some of these initiatives include promoting renewable energy, solar energy on rooftops, anti-sprawl housing, and alternative fuel types.

He also endorsed the ambitious—and somewhat controversial—bullet train project, which was partially justified by climate concerns, along with the 2006 Global Warming Act that taxes companies for carbon emissions, effectively creating a significant fund for Democrats to use as they see fit.

For over a decade, both Newsom and his predecessor, Jerry Brown, have constructed this framework.

They’ve often exaggerated climate urgency to position themselves as virtuous, deflect blame onto Republican “deniers,” raise funds off this alarm, and enrich their allies through taxpayer dollars, all while tightening their grip on the choices available to Californians.

This political strategy may work for a time, but the repercussions are substantial. The narrative can only hold for so long, and many residents are starting to see the state’s climate enthusiasm as a sort of “green racket.”

For the left, it’s becoming an increasingly “inconvenient truth.”
