Forensic examinations showed that lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife Neda, and chairman Jonathan Bloomer and his wife Judy all died of “death by incarceration.” La Republicaan Italian publication.

So-called “dry drowning” supports the hypothesis that the men were awake when the ship sank, and were desperately breathing in tiny bubbles of air before tragically running out of oxygen. Examinations by pathologists from the Palermo Institute of Forensic Medicine found no water in their stomachs, tracheas or lungs.

The Baysian was caught in a pre-dawn storm on August 19 and capsized and sank about 16 minutes later.NumberThe four victims were discovered in a cabin on the port side of the vessel, along with Mike Lynch, a technology entrepreneur who had planned a yachting trip to celebrate a recent legal victory.

Lynch's 18-year-old daughter, Hannah, was found in the next cabin, also on the port side of the ship.

According to La RepublicaLynch's wife tried to save her husband and daughter, but cut her bare foot on glass and fell to the bottom as the boat rocked. The cuts meant she was unable to walk for a week.

Without oxygen, the air pockets filled with carbon dioxide turned toxic, killing the crew as the ship listed to starboard and sank.

The ship's cook, Recardo Thomas, was found next to the wreck.

La Republica Autopsies on the bodies of Lynch, her daughter and Thomas are reportedly scheduled for Friday.

Authorities in charge of civil defense said they believe the vessel was hit by a waterspout or tornado near the port of Porticello, where the yacht was docked.

The Baysian had 10 crew members and 12 passengers on board. Fifteen people were rescued, including Lynch's wife.

Prosecutors are reportedly investigating whether the captain and two crew members may have been involved in the sinking. It is not yet known what caused the ship to sink.
