Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield has filed a lawsuit against his father for $12 million, citing apparent contract issues with his father's company.
Mayfield accused his father's company, Canwood Capital, of transferring funds “without authorization” from Mayfield and his wife between 2018 and 2021.
The two parties reached a settlement in January in which Mayfield's father, James, would repay almost all of the money, but Mayfield has not received the full amount, according to the complaint.

The first $250,000 payment was scheduled for Sept. 30, but Mayfield never received it, according to the complaint.
“As plaintiffs begin to reveal defendants' illegal conduct and demand answers to explain the expropriation of their assets, defendants attempt to hide relevant information, avoid plaintiffs' questioning, and fabricate fictitious explanations for their actions. I did…” I read Suits..
“It is now clear that Defendants did not intend to make Plaintiff whole when they entered into the Settlement Agreement. To date, Canwood Capital has not repaid a single dollar under the Settlement Agreement. Defendant has failed to refinance existing loans, and Defendant has not provided Plaintiff with access to its books and records…In other words, Defendant has not fulfilled any of its obligations and has not provided Plaintiff with access to its books and records. They are refusing to even respond to the plaintiff's efforts.''
