Confusion Over Online Romance Leads to Surprise Encounter

A Belgian man drove almost 500 miles to meet who he thought was his future wife, only to be taken aback when he discovered that the woman, identified as Sophie Vose Road, was a French model married to a man named Fabian Butamine, who had no clue about this visit.

Upon arriving at her home, the Belgian, who went by Michelle, met Butamine. In a video filmed during the encounter, Butamine expressed his shock, saying, “A guy just rang my doorbell claiming to be Sophie’s future husband. Well, I’m her husband. This is going to be interesting.” It was quite a moment, really.

Michelle suggested that perhaps Butamine was mistaken about the nature of their relationship. “Maybe she pulled a fast one on me,” he seemed to exclaim. But Butamine responded cynically, insisting, “That’s got to be a fake account. You need to be careful.”

Michelle revealed that he’d sent about $35,000 to someone posing as Vose Road, who was a former Miss Limoucin and the first runner-up for Miss France back in 2007. The whole situation escalated, with Michelle mentioning that this impersonator had told him they were expecting a child, only to later say she had lost the baby. Butamine interjected, “No, she’s fine. Fortunately, that’s not our issue.” The conversation turned into a cautionary tale about the dangers lurking on social media, something that, unfortunately, seems all too common these days.

In a poignant moment, Vose Road joined the discussion, expressing her empathy for Michelle, saying, “This really breaks my heart.” She urged him to gather any evidence and report the fraud.

Butamine later shared the video online, which quickly gained attention, racking up around 11,000 likes. However, it remains unclear if a police report was filed in connection with the incident. In the caption, Butamine expressed his sympathy for the Belgian, urging others to remain vigilant against fake accounts: “Be cautious and spread this video as a warning,” he wrote. Neither he nor Vose Road has commented further on the situation since then.
