Chicago Bears Prove They Are for Real with Victory Over Eagles
The Chicago Bears are looking to establish themselves as a serious contender, and their recent win on Black Friday might just support that claim.
During their trip to Philadelphia, the Bears secured a 24-15 victory against the reigning Super Bowl champion Eagles. A remarkable performance on the ground allowed them to rush for an impressive 281 yards, marking the first occasion since 1985 that two players exceeded 100 rushing yards in the same game.
After the game, the atmosphere in the locker room was electric. First-year head coach Ben Johnson got into the spirit, celebrating shirtless and leading the team in chants. The Bears, in high spirits, yelled, “Good, good, great! Never rest until good becomes good and good becomes great.” It’s worth noting that Johnson even earned a free hot dog from a local vendor after taking off his shirt following the win.
“They’re pretty excited about what they accomplished,” Johnson said, reflecting on the challenging nature of the matchup. “It’s never easy to beat a strong team like that.”
Interestingly, the Eagles faced some discontent from their home crowd as the Bears showcased their dominance. This win stands in stark contrast to last season’s Thanksgiving loss to Detroit, which led to major changes in coaching and a rough patch that saw a six-game losing streak. Now, a year later, the Bears were able to overcome the Eagles’ defensive lineup with relative comfort.
Johnson emphasized the growing confidence within the team, stating, “They really believe in what we’re doing. They have faith in themselves and in this coaching staff, and that belief is starting to really show.”
Currently, the Bears are enjoying a five-game winning streak and are set to face the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field next. Meanwhile, the Eagles look to regroup as they prepare to take on the Chargers in Los Angeles on December 8.
