Sen. John Ernst Probes SBA Transparency Regarding Planned Parenthood Funding

U.S. Senator John Ernst (R-Iowa) recently acquired communications from the Small Business Administration (SBA) during the Biden administration that suggest a possible cover-up concerning $90 million in taxpayer funds allocated to Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the country.

Ernst claims that SBA officials are influenced by former top SBA attorney, Peggy Hamilton, who allegedly referred to discussions about Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans as “Benghazi.” This label emerged amid Congressional calls for clearer disclosure of the loans and their impact on Planned Parenthood.

Ernst brought attention to what he sees as significant issues, questioning the relevance of using a term tied to the 2012 attack in Libya in these discussions. He argues that it appears to be a tactic to evade scrutiny regarding the funding of abortion services and potentially breaching federal records laws. “What does Benghazi have to do with Planned Parenthood? The use of that term seems designed to obscure $90 million in taxpayer dollars routed to abortion providers,” he stated.

In a letter, Ernst urged Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche to investigate whether the Biden administration was involved in concealing federal records. He provided evidence suggesting that Hamilton openly referenced a need to meet regarding “Benghazi,” potentially indicating plans to obscure information related to Planned Parenthood.

Others in the pro-life community, like Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, have echoed Ernst’s sentiments, expressing surprise at the lengths the Democratic administration might go to shield the abortion sector from accountability.

These revelations come on the heels of the SBA contacting 38 Planned Parenthood affiliates, seeking evidence of their eligibility for PPP loans. Officials warned that those found to have submitted falsified information could face severe penalties, including the repayment of loans.

“Planned Parenthood didn’t warrant any taxpayer assistance during the pandemic,” said SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler, emphasizing the administration’s intent to enforce accountability.

As of now, Planned Parenthood has not issued any comment concerning these developments.
