Former President Biden expressed on Friday that he “feels good,” almost a week after revealing his prostate cancer diagnosis.
He shared these thoughts while at Bradley International Airport in Connecticut, where he was attending his grandson’s graduation.
This was his first public comment since discussing his health situation last Sunday.
On Monday, the longtime Democrat posted a message to his followers, thanking them for their support during this time.
“Cancer affects all of us. Jill and I have discovered that we are strongest in our most vulnerable moments,” Biden wrote.
He concluded with a note of gratitude: “Thank you for uplifting us with your love and support.”
As Biden steps back from the public eye, some from the Trump administration have made critical remarks about his diagnosis.
Vice President Vance, speaking on Monday, raised questions about Biden’s capabilities during his time in office, implying that his team might have known about his health challenges.
“It can affect his ability to achieve the right health outcomes. I don’t believe he was fully capable of performing his duties as commander,” Vance told the press.
He emphasized that his concerns stem from Biden’s health rather than political disagreements, saying, “I don’t hold him entirely responsible but rather the people around him.”
A book titled “The Original Crime: President Biden’s Decline, Concealment, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again” by Jake Tupper and Alex Thompson suggests that Biden’s close associates worked to shield him from scrutiny regarding his cognitive decline during last year’s inauguration.
Biden and his wife, Jill, have denied these claims.
