Boise State star Ashton Jeanty goes viral as the only Heisman finalist to rep their school

The Heisman Trophy finalists arrived in New York this weekend ahead of Saturday night's highly anticipated 90th annual awards ceremony. While reporting, X fans noticed one major difference between Jeanty and his comrades. Heisman candidate.

He was the only one who represented the football program in his attire choices.

Jeanty also won support from fans for being outspoken about his faith, and was praised by many on social media for wearing the Broncos' signature orange and blue tracksuit.

When asked why he chose that outfit, Giunty admitted he wouldn't be in this position today if it wasn't for Boise State.

“I read the little Heisman pamphlet and it said they encourage us to wear gear.” he said Friday with laughter. “But I was going to wear it anyway because if it wasn't for Boise State I wouldn't be here and I just want to represent the school. I feel like that's important.”

Giunty is the first running back Heisman Trophy finalist since 2017. After an impressive season in which he led the nation with 2,497 yards rushing and 29 touchdowns, Giunty ranks alongside him as a top two championship favorite. Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter.

But even with these achievements, Jeanty feels that his position in New York goes beyond his personal accomplishments.

“The running back position has been overlooked for a while,” Giunty said. “There were a lot of great running backs before me who should have been here in New York, so I think it's great to carry on the tradition of the running back position as a whole.”
