Authorities are investigating disturbing bomb threats sent by email to more than 20 synagogues and Jewish institutions in the Big Apple, as well as temples in the upstate and on Long Island.
“Hello, when you see this email, please realize that I have planted a bomb inside you.
An email sent Saturday read, law enforcement officials told The Post.
“This is not a threat,” he said. “We’ve planted a bomb in your building. Only a few hours left.”
If we don’t disarm them, blood will splatter everywhere. ”
Sources said the threat came from a group calling themselves “Terrorizers111.”
Targets included 14 synagogues and Jewish centers in Manhattan, five in Queens, and two in Brooklyn. — There are two additional temples in the northern states and one on Long Island, officials said.
A similar threat was emailed to the New York Landmarks Conservancy.
The threat comes as pro-Palestinian protesters have taken to the streets in recent weeks, setting up anti-Semitic encampments in the five autonomous regions and elsewhere, including setting up anti-Israel encampments on university campuses such as Columbia University and City College. This is happening amid a rise in ideology.
On Sunday, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) announced $400 million in federal aid would be allocated to protect houses of worship, funding security guards, cameras and fencing.
“Last night’s bomb threat aimed at a synagogue in New York City caused untold fear, but unfortunately it also reflects the rise in anti-Semitism we have seen and the impact on places of worship,” Schumer said in a statement. “These threats are not a complete shock given the overall spike in threats.” .
“Unfortunately, additional support at the federal level is needed to protect nonprofit community spaces such as synagogues, mosques, and churches as threats increase,” he said. “These funds will help reduce anxiety across the city in the places where we worship, pray, and learn.”
