Border Town’s Criminal Prosecutions Explode by 5,000% on Biden’s Watch

Kinney County, Texas, is one of several U.S. border regions where illegal immigration has reached record levels and criminal prosecutions have soared under President Joe Biden’s watch.

Kinney County Attorney Brent Smith said during a House Budget Committee hearing last week. Said Lawmakers say the county filed only 134 criminal charges in 2020 under former President Donald Trump.

Smith said the number of criminal prosecutions will rise to nearly 3,000 in 2021, about 6,800 in 2022, and 2023 after Biden has “issued multiple executive orders and reversed numerous border security policies.” In 2017, the number of cases jumped to more than 5,800, he said.

This represents an approximately 5,000 percent increase in criminal prosecutions in Kinney County from 2020 to 2022 and a more than 4,200 percent increase from 2020 to 2023.

“Kinney County typically operates within a $6 million annual budget,” Smith said. Said Member of Parliament:

but Open border policies enacted by the Biden administration requires counties to significantly expand the capacity of local criminal justice systems; It costs Texas taxpayers an additional $10.5 million. [Emphasis added]

Smith said record illegal immigration under the Biden administration has taken a toll on public schools, emergency response systems and law enforcement.

Smith twice told lawmakers that Kinney County residents in need of emergency medical services died because they were not provided because of immigration barriers.

“In both cases, all available emergency personnel were already dispatched to a human smuggling incident several miles away and were unable to respond to county residents,” Smith said. “This is a clear example of how open borders policies can have deadly consequences for Americans across the country.”

Kinney County has a population of less than 3,200 people. At the same time, the Del Rio area on the southern border, where Kinney County is located, is mostly affected. 200,000 Migrants will pass through the region from October 2023 to March this year.
