“Uncle, are you listening? You have to sign it. If you don’t sign it, we can’t do anything,” Nunez can be heard saying in his native language. “I can’t sign it. I’ll do what I can.”
“You’re gripping the chair really hard over there,” Nunes says to the corpse. She also asked one of her tellers, “Wasn’t he holding the door there just now?”
Nunes expresses dissatisfaction with Braga’s lack of cooperation, saying, “Please sign so I don’t have any more headaches. I can’t take it anymore.”
According to the translation
offered “I don’t think this is legal. He doesn’t look good. He’s very pale,” one teller said in the video, according to USA Today.
“That’s the kind of person he is,” says Nunez, who claimed to be the dead man’s niece.
The stern borrower then suggests to Braga, mouth wide open and eyes cloudy, that if he doesn’t feel well, he’ll go to the hospital.
A bank employee eventually called the police, who quickly took Nunes into custody.
Police Chief Fabio Souza of Police Station 34 Confirmed Nunes was charged with attempted theft by fraud and abuse of a corpse, CNN Brazil reported. If convicted of the latter charge, Nunes could face up to three years in prison and a fine.
Nunes reportedly showed no remorse during an interview with police and told officials that Braga’s card expired while he was at the bank. It’s partly the medical examiner’s fault that the police don’t accept her story.

According to reports, authorities are still waiting to confirm the cause of Braga’s death and have indicated they intend to launch a murder investigation if foul play is suspected.
