Britt to deliver GOP response to Biden State of the Union address

Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.) is scheduled to deliver the Republican response to President Biden’s State of the Union address next week.

Britt was sworn into office last year with the support of former President Donald Trump, becoming the first woman elected to the Alabama Senate.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) also announced the news on X. Britt joined McConnell’s leadership team as an informal advisor last year.

“I’m pleased to announce that, along with @SpeakerJohnson, @SenKatieBritt will bring the Republican Party’s address to the nation next Thursday. Americans are fighting to secure a stronger future and forget the failures of Washington Democrats. You’re going to hear from an unabashed optimist,” McConnell said.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) wrote in X that “Americans will watch as the youngest Republican woman ever elected to the Senate turns the page on the oldest president in history.” Ta.

It is tradition for the president’s opponents to speak each year in response to the annual address. Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R), President Trump’s former White House press secretary, announced the Republican Party’s response to Biden’s State of the Union address last year.
