After a year of disappointing sales for the brand, popular stand-up comedian Shane Gillis is collaborating with Bud Light, the company announced on Instagram.

“Welcome to the @shanemgillis team. We look forward to joining you on tour in 2024.” Beer brands listed.

“Excited to announce our partnership with Budlight #budlightpartner.” Gillis posted on his Instagram account..

Bud Light saw sales decline last year after rumors spread that the company had partnered with transgender activist and influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

When Mulvaney was named a Bud Light ambassador supporting the March Madness basketball tournament, the company faced a months-long boycott.

As a result of this deal, Bud Light’s sales plummeted, sparking outrage, and the brand was no longer America’s best-selling beer.

Aside from the collaboration with Mulvaney, Alyssa Heinerscheidt, Bud Light’s vice president of marketing at the time, shared her thoughts on the brand’s customers in a video interview. Her “belief” is that the way to grow and elevate a brand is to embrace inclusivity: “Embrace inclusivity. That means changing the tone, becoming truly inclusive, brighter, It means running a campaign that feels brighter, different, and appeals to both women and men.”

“Expression is like the center of evolution. You have to meet people who reflect you in your work,” she continued. “We were hungover. Bud Light was kind of a campy, out-of-place brand of humor, so it was really important to have a different approach.”

According to reports, Heinerscheidt has since been dismissed from his position.

But Gillis has experienced cancel culture himself, or rather tried to cancel it.The comedian was previously scouted saturday night live in 2019 to appear on the show in the future. But he was fired soon after after an old joke resurfaced in which he imitated someone on a podcast and used the word “chunk,” a racial slur against Chinese people.

Mr. Gillis is also known for jokingly imitating former President Donald Trump, although his audience typically tends to be much more conservative. He was even seen shaking hands with Trump during a live UFC match, along with other celebrities and Trump’s family.

“After discussions with Shane Gillis, we have decided that he will not participate.” SNL,” spectacle, show, play mentioned at the time. “We were not aware of his previous statements that have surfaced over the past few days. The language he used is offensive, hurtful and unacceptable. We wish we had seen these clips sooner. We regret that this was not the case and that the review process did not meet our standards.”
