Indiana Fever Shines in Preseason Game
Kate Rinklerk and the Indiana Fever faced off against the Brazilian national team in their second preseason game of the WNBA season. The match took place at Carver Hawkeye Arena, a venue that brings back memories for many, especially for those familiar with Iowa basketball.
The Fever secured an impressive 108-44 victory, with Clark contributing significantly. She scored 16 points, delivered six assists, and grabbed six rebounds in just under 19 minutes of play. It was her first game action for the year, as she had missed the opening preseason match due to a foot injury, but she made her presence felt right away, executing a familiar three-pointer from the Hawkeyes’ logo.
In this game, Clark was one of four Fever starters to hit double digits in scoring. Kelsey Mitchell led the team with 17 points and also recorded three steals. Adding to the mix, Aliya Boston, last season’s Rookie of the Year, chipped in with 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals. The newcomers also played their part, showcasing their skills against Team Brazil.
The Fever shooters were remarkable, hitting an astounding 15 out of 33 attempts from beyond the arc, translating to a shooting percentage of 45.5% from three-point range. Defensively, they forced Team Brazil to turn the ball over 26 times, highlighting their defensive prowess early in the season.
Looking ahead, the Fever will wrap up their preseason schedule against the Atlanta Dream before kicking off the regular season on May 17th, when they’ll take on Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.
