Plane Crash in California Neighborhood
On Saturday afternoon, a small plane crashed in a residential area in Simi Valley, California, resulting in at least one fatality and significant damage to two houses.
According to officials from the Ventura County Fire Department, a small-engine fixed-wing aircraft collided with homes located on Hymeadow Street.
Preliminary reports indicate that the occupant of the plane was killed; however, the identity of this individual has not yet been disclosed.
Fortunately, the residents inside the affected homes were able to evacuate safely, with no reported injuries among them.
The crash caused considerable structural damage, as fire engulfed a two-story house, leaving it in ruins.
By 4:30 PM local time, firefighting crews had managed to extinguish the blaze and were focused on overhaul and rescue operations.
Roughly 40 firefighters were dispatched to the scene, coordinating efforts with the Shimi Valley Police Department. As of now, authorities have not shared any information regarding the preliminary cause of the accident.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have yet to provide comments following the incident.
