A Southern California man was arrested after allegedly decapitating his elderly parents and their dog, authorities said Wednesday.
According to a news release from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Joseph Brandon Gardville, 41, is accused of killing Ronald Walter Gardville, 77, and Antoinette Gardville, 79, and their dog.
According to the department, officers were dispatched to a mobile home in San Juan Capistrano, California on July 9 for a report of domestic violence.
Officers found Ronald and Antoinette dead at the home and described the scene as “horrific.”

Shortly after discovering the body, Police also received a report of a “blood-covered man” chasing a maintenance worker at a mobile home community and stealing the worker’s golf cart.
According to FOX 5 San Diego, Gardville was later spotted riding in a golf cart near the exit of a local bike trail, where at least one deputy fired shots at him.
Gardvil was hit multiple times and taken to hospital in critical but stable condition. It is unclear whether Gardvil was carrying a weapon.

David Desmond He told FOX 11 He said he saw Gardvil having a violent argument with his father the morning before the horrific attack.
“A young man came up to me and pointed his finger at me,” Desmond told the outlet. “I couldn’t hear what they were saying but he looked very angry and the other man was older.”
Another neighbour told the outlet that Gardville had a drug problem and lived with his parents.

Police said Gardville, who remains hospitalized, will be charged with two counts of murder once a doctor gives a medical clearance.
