Concerned parents, student-athletes and others attended the Inter-Calif. Federation of Governance (CIF) meeting on Thursday, appealing to regulatory groups to protect women from men trying to compete in sports.
“This is a safety issue for women,” Jordan Brace, a cross-country student-athlete at St. Francis High School, told CIF officials. Report. Brace told state officials, “We asked how many injuries everyone has been injured when everyone realizes how important it is for women to feel safe and young girls to feel fair competition.”
“To allow biological men to compete with female athletes who do not have the same kind of build or physical ability is completely unfair and unsafe for women.
I want to know what I'm facing…someone who has the same gender as me. …I'm not beaten by anyone of a race that is more physically capable than me, which will naturally become faster and more muscular than me. No one, anywhere, thinks that young women have to deal with it, they should be afraid that they are not safe, or that they are discriminated against in their sport.
There are many examples of young women who were injured while competing with men who claim to be women and were allowed to compete in women's sports. During his March 4 speech to Congress, President Trump praised Payton McNabb, who “suffered from a concussion, cerebral hemorrhage, permanent whiplash,” after the trans player spiked the ball in her face.
The CIF continues to deny “no execution order for women's sports executive orders,” signed by President Donald Trump on February 5th. San Francisco Chronicle announcement “Leaders of Scholastic Sports say they are following state laws that allow trans student-athletes to participate in teams that respond to gender identity.”
But California Republicans joined the fight. A Fox News report said state legislators “introduced two bills to prevent trans athletes from competing in women's sports.”
California State Senator Bill Essayli introduced such a bill on February 14, but Congress member Kate Sanchez announced on January 7 that she was introducing the bill. Trans athletes are prohibited From competition in sports between girls and women.
Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) appeared to soften opinions on the issue when he told Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk on March 6 that the issue of men in women's sports was “a matter of fairness – it's very unfair.”
“I'm not working on the issue of fairness,” Newsom added. “I fully agree with you. I respect sports. So the issue of fairness is completely legal.”
Newsom explained to Kirk that balancing the “equity” of female athletes with the emotional concerns of trans individuals, and that, as the governor stated, “these poor people are suicidal and depression, and how people talk to vulnerable communities is a challenge that I too have.”
However, at CIF meetings on Thursday, parents brought back discussions to young women who were trying to compete quite a bit in California sports.
“Good intentions don't make good policies. According to the report, Ried Morris, mother of five student-athletes at California State Schools, told CIF, Ried Morris, mother of five student-athletes at California State Schools, told the CIF, according to the report.
“It was never a good idea to sacrifice girls' sports by acknowledging boys. It was never going to last. So I'm asking you to read the room, read the data and do the right thing. Don't let your legacy do something that you had to kick or scream to do the right thing for girls after everyone else. Get up and do the right thing,” Morris concluded.
