Comments made by far-left commentator Ana Kasparian, host of “Young Turks,” have drawn widespread criticism following the death of Senator Lindsey Graham.
On Saturday night, she posted a message on X saying, “Good for you,” in reference to Graham’s passing, which occurred at the age of 71. This post quickly gained over 6 million views and sparked outrage online.
Graham’s office revealed he died from a “short-term sudden illness.” Initial findings from the D.C. medical examiner pointed to aortic dissection, a tear in the main artery as the cause of death.
The online backlash was immediate, with many condemning Kasparian for her harsh reaction. One user expressed, “This is disgusting,” pointing out that while they might not agree with Graham’s politics, celebrating his death was unacceptable.
In response to some comments, Kasparian did not hold back. She stated, “Did I offend you? Let me be clear: I am overjoyed that he is gone. Just as he was overjoyed at the deaths of countless children across the Middle East.” This remark referred to Graham’s views on military actions in Gaza, where he compared Israel’s strategies to the U.S. bombings of Tokyo and Berlin during WWII, arguing for a strong military response to break cycles of radicalization.
Other comments included sharp criticisms directed at Kasparian, with one user calling her “despicable” for celebrating the death of a U.S. senator. Kasparian glibly replied, “A bloodthirsty traitor, a free-thinking type, you know when you see one.” In another interaction, when someone questioned the suddenness of Graham’s death, she remarked, “Karma happened.”
Kasparian has previously faced backlash for her outspoken criticism of U.S. support for Israel and its military actions, which led some Jewish advocacy organizations to label her comments as anti-Semitic. She has strongly denied these accusations, clarifying that her critiques are directed at the Israeli government and U.S. foreign policy, rather than at the Jewish community as a whole.
Kasparian’s comments are part of a larger trend among some progressive commentators who have openly expressed disdain for Graham and his political stance.
