Cartel Gunmen in Mexico Drop Ice Chests with Human Body Parts in Border City

Gunmen from the Gulf Cartel in Tamaulipas state dropped several ice chests containing human body parts in the parking lot of a popular shopping center just south of the Texas border. The tragic discovery occurred in the same parking lot where Gulf Cartel gunmen released a group of 32 migrants they had abducted days earlier.

The incident occurred Sunday afternoon in Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas, just south of Donna, Texas. Tamaulipas state authorities tried to cover up the matter and waited as long as possible before confirming their findings. Under the leadership of Tamaulipas Governor Americo Villarreal, state officials, especially his spokesperson Jorge Cuellar Montoya, have been trying to cover up incidents of cartel violence and minimize violent crimes as a way to maintain that the region is safe. I have tried to keep it to a minimum.

Authorities found an ice chest containing the torso and several other bodies at the scene. The perpetrators left posters next to the icebox with various cartel threats. Authorities declined to disclose the contents of the messages. The victims have not been identified, but authorities believe body parts from multiple victims may be recovered. Officials believe a similar crime scene may be discovered.

The discovery was made in the parking lot of a popular shopping center in Rio Bravo. On January 3, armed groups released 32 migrants who had been kidnapped on December 30. According to a report in Breitbart Texas, the Gulf Cartel was able to deploy several vehicles. He stops a passenger bus heading from Reynosa to Matamoros and kidnaps 32 migrants. Federal forces and the military did nothing to stop the kidnapping and were unable to locate the victim for several days afterwards.

It remains unclear whether some of the bodies left in the icebox are related to the kidnapping of migrants or some kind of internal conflict within the Gulf Cartel.
