But when President Trump first announced the policy proposal in June, CBS took a significantly different tone.

Harris, in particular, has faced fierce backlash after she copied one of Trump’s original campaign promises at a campaign rally on Saturday.
Social media users responded to the vice president’s comments with the hashtag #CopyCatKamala, pointing out that President Trump has campaigned for months on repealing the tip tax.
To make matters worse, Governor Harris voted to pass a bill in 2022 that would allow the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to track and tax workers’ tips.
On August 7, 2022, Harris cast a runoff vote to pass the Inflation Control Act, which would provide an additional $80 billion to the IRS, which began cracking down on the hospitality industry reporting tips for tax purposes.
