Children of Sarah Huckabee Sanders discover 2,000-year-old coins in the West Bank

Sanders Family Discovers Ancient Coins in West Bank

The children of Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders are diving into archaeology. Recently, during an expedition in the West Bank, the Sanders family stumbled upon some exciting historical artifacts.

According to Israeli news agency TPS-IL, the finding was first shared by the Yesha Council, which represents Jewish communities in the region. The family was exploring a cave near the Naela settlement, during a guided tour that included a visit to the ancient city of Shiloh.

Interestingly, U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee was with his family at the time of the discovery. The kids, equipped with metal detectors and guided by professional archaeologists, were thrilled when they unearthed five ancient coins. These artifacts are suspected to date back to the Bar Kokhba Rebellion, which occurred between 132 and 135 AD, prompting excited shouts from the children.

One of the grandchildren exclaimed, “Grandpa, look what we found!”—a moment that, I imagine, most families would cherish.

In addition to the coins, they also discovered fragments of a 2nd-century vase in another cave. Ambassador Huckabee expressed his emotional connection to the site, noting, “It was unforgettable to see children unearth and hold coins that had been buried for over 2,000 years.” He further remarked that this experience shows, perhaps, that miracles can happen in both ancient times and today.

Governor Sanders reflected on the day’s events, stating in a message to Fox News Digital, “I will never forget seeing the children unearth a coin that had been buried for over 2,000 years and hold it in their hands.” The experience, she noted, was a vivid reminder that the Holy Land is far more than just a news headline; it is deeply significant to both Christian and Jewish faiths.

The Sanders family’s discovery isn’t entirely isolated. Children have uncovered historical treasures in Israel before. For instance, a 12-year-old girl found an ancient Egyptian amulet while hiking, and another young girl discovered a 3,800-year-old amulet linked to the Canaanites at Tel Azekah last December.
