A teacher at a private Christian school is facing serious charges after being accused of having sexual relations with a student. The case gained attention this week when a 15-year-old boy managed to draw an accurate representation of the teacher’s bedroom, which was presented during the trial.
Now 19, the accuser appeared in court against Bonnie Elizabeth Brown, 26, as her trial unfolded in Georgia. This trial follows the sentencing of another teacher, Shelley Delle Mauldin, 61, who recently received a 12-year prison term for sexual assault.
The young man testified that he had sexual encounters with Brown twice in 2023, while he was in ninth grade at Nathanael Greene Academy. He detailed that the first incident occurred at his aunt’s house after school, and the second took place during spring break, again at the same location.
In court, the teen provided a drawing of Brown’s bedroom, which he used to assist investigators in their inquiries. He mentioned that Brown used Snapchat to send him explicit pictures, likely aware that those messages would vanish after some time.
According to jurors, Brown gifted him a ring and even referred to him as her “favorite.”
Brown, who taught language, was apprehended in June 2024. Mauldin was also arrested later, having confessed to engaging in sexual activities with another student. The incidents contributed to the eventual closure of the prestigious school.
Initially, when questioned by the police, the boy denied any sexual contact with Brown. However, he later revised his statement, explaining that fear of bullying influenced his silence.
During her questioning, investigators noted a noticeable shift in Brown’s behavior whenever sexual allegations were raised. One agent remarked that as soon as the topic was broached, she would either fall silent or exhibit a distinctly dry manner.
Brown faces eight counts related to sexual contact, each potentially leading to a 20-year prison sentence if she is convicted.
This trial commenced just two weeks after the sentencing of Mauldin, who received a 12-year sentence with 25 years suspended.
