according to The Christian StandtThe Colorado Christian University (CCU) men’s golf team, better known as the Cougars, won the Division II Men’s Golf National Title by defeating the University of North Georgia in the final match of a grueling five-day championship series that consisted of 108 holes.“ CCU head coach Mark Hull called the team’s title “built on a foundation of former players who helped shape the culture that has shaped who we are today.”“ “I’m very proud of all the people who have helped make this program what it is today,” Hull added.“ “It was a great day for all of us,” he added.
Hull praised the golfers representing CCU as “players of the highest character.”“ “take pride Embodying Christian character.“ He saw the team’s actions as consistent with the mission to “represent Christ in all we do.”“ He added, “I’m excited to use this platform to make this happen.”“
of NCAA website t statesThe Division II boys golf championship took place May 21-25 at Orange County National Golf Center in Winter Garden, Fla. CCU was one of 80 teams selected to compete in regional tournaments prior to the finals.
The team represented the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in the South Central Region, where they tied for second place with Oklahoma Christian University (OCU) in the games played in Las Cruces, New Mexico, May 9-11, making them one of five teams to advance to the finals.
CCU then tied for seventh place through the first three days of finals at the Winter Garden, qualifying for a spot in the “medal match” head-to-head match.“ The final two days of events. After beating OCU on day one of the medal match event, CCU earned the right to play North Georgia and went on to win three of five matches to claim the national title.
“Bradley Mulder battled to the end against the Nighthawks’ Noah Zediker. The freshman shot a strong 72 but lost by two strokes.“ CCU stated the achievements of the golfers: “Xavier Bighaus followed with a 70, falling one stroke short. Dylan Arthur finished first, beating his opponent by five strokes with a fine round of 67. Peyton Jones was calm and collected throughout, posting a score of 70 to comfortably beat his opponent.”
“Two talented golfers, Adam Duncan and Will Chambless, competed against each other until the very end and it all came down to a deciding vote.“ The university recalled: “Taking a one-stroke lead heading into the 18th hole, Duncan did exactly what he had to do, hitting the green in two strokes. With Cougar fans holding their breath in anticipation, Duncan clearly stepped up and sank a beautiful putt from distance for birdie and a national championship for his team.”
CCU said, “The Cougars’ season has already begun. One Memorable One They won four games en route to the national championship and won their first RMAC championship.“ In addition to being a historic moment for CCU, the championship title marked the “first ever won by a men’s golf team in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference history.”“ This marks the “first title ever won at any level by a Colorado-based golf team.”
