Conservatives celebrate on social media following SCOTUS decision supporting TN law

Conservatives on social media expressed their excitement on Wednesday after the Supreme Court upheld Tennessee’s law that prohibits gender transition treatments for minors.

In a 6-3 ruling, the Court affirmed Tennessee Senate Bill 1, which bans medical interventions aimed at helping minors align their physical identity with their gender identity or manage distress related to gender dysphoria.

This decision was seen as a significant win for parental rights by many conservative voices online. Commentator Matt Walsh described it as a “Big Win,” stating, “A fatal blow to the children’s amputation industry. We won.”

Dustin Greige, writing for Town Hall, called it “a massive victory for sanity.” Meanwhile, Charlie Kirk emphasized the need for a national ban on such treatments, celebrating it as a victory for common sense. GOP representative Riley Moore chimed in, asserting that the state has a duty to safeguard children from chemical or surgical interventions.

The American Principles Project echoed this sentiment, declaring, “There is no more irreversible harm in the name of ideology!”

In related news, a conservative influencer account highlighted the call for a nationwide ban on transgender surgeries and hormone treatments for young people.

Justice John Roberts noted in the majority opinion that the law did not face heightened scrutiny as it lacked sufficient justification for enhanced review.

The ruling specifically prohibits state healthcare providers from administering puberty blockers or hormones for the purpose of transitioning in minors, while also imposing penalties on those who continue to provide these procedures.

In a dissenting opinion, Justice Sonia Sotomayor voiced concern, arguing that the majority’s decision effectively marginalizes transgender children and their families for political reasons.
