Republicans and conservatives have sharply criticized what they term “reckless” comments from Democrats regarding the National Guard. They argue that these escalating attacks by Democratic leaders endanger service members and, as illustrated by the recent shooting of two Guardsmen near the White House, have real-world consequences.

On Wednesday, three individuals, including two soldiers from the West Virginia National Guard, were shot near the Farragut West subway station in Washington, D.C. This incident resulted in a lockdown of the White House and the Treasury Department.
