Costco reveals that all its California stores will close on Fourth of July — find out where to shop instead

Costco has announced that it will shut down all its stores in the U.S. for Independence Day, which means customers in California will need to find alternatives for their holiday shopping. This closure affects 142 Costco locations statewide.

The retailer typically observes this practice on major holidays, including New Year’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, according to various reports.

California holds the distinction of having the most Costco warehouses, comprising about 23% of the total store space for the chain across the country.

Even if you forgot some barbecue essentials—like burgers, buns, or ice—don’t worry. Other retailers, like Walmart and Target, will be operating during their usual holiday hours, along with grocery chains such as Whole Foods and Ralph’s.

Trader Joe’s will be open to shoppers on that day, whereas Aldi will close early at 5 p.m., and their hours can vary by location. So, if you’re headed out, it might be a good idea to check with your local store first.

Interestingly, Costco started in San Diego with the first Price Club back in 1976 and has evolved into a major player in the warehouse retail sector. The company prides itself on providing quality products at competitive prices for its members, and it aims to create a positive shopping experience.
