Court delivers a significant lesson to Letitia James on legal tactics, granting Trump a major win

Trump Wins in New York Lawsuit

A judge in New York has handed a significant victory to former President Donald Trump and his two sons, following a lawsuit initiated by Attorney General Letitia James in February.

The civil suit accused Trump of inflating the value of his properties to secure better loan terms from banks and other entities. While the banks have denied any wrongdoing, critics have scrutinized a particular incident where one of Trump’s well-known properties was humorously appraised much lower than expected.

Recently, the New York Court of Appeals ruled in favor of Trump, marking a substantial win for him on Thursday. Judge Arthur Ngoron’s decision aimed at reforming the business practices of Trump’s organization was deemed excessive by the court, particularly the nearly $5 billion financial penalty imposed, which was considered a violation of the Eighth Amendment.

Judge Peter Moulton articulated in his opinion that the Attorney General failed to demonstrate proper calculations directly related to Trump’s alleged misconduct. He remarked that the figures presented were far from reasonable.

Following the ruling, Trump took to True Social to express his satisfaction, calling it a “complete victory” against what he described as a baseless case. He highlighted that the courts showed courage by overturning what he termed an “illegal” decision that negatively impacted businesses across New York.

Trump accused the lawsuit of being politically motivated, characterizing Ngoron as a “political hack” and James as a “corrupt” official who pursued the case solely for political gain.

“There’s no more law!”

The former president expressed gratitude towards the court, particularly appreciating David Friedman, the assistant judge in the Appeals Division.

Eric Trump, who manages the Trump organization alongside his brother Donald Trump Jr., celebrated the verdict, calling it “a complete victory” after an arduous five years.

Donald Trump Jr. echoed similar sentiments, framing the lawsuit as part of an ongoing “witch hunt” and underscoring that even the left-leaning court acknowledged this perspective.

Charlie Kirk, CEO of Turning Point USA, remarked on the multiple attempts to thwart Trump, claiming they all failed.

This situation continues to develop.
