‘Only Murders in the Building’ Star Da’Vine Joy Randolph Talks Skin Care, Subtle Accessories, and the Secret to Staying Sexy
Da’Vine Joy Randolph will be an EGOT winner. It’s only a matter of time. She’s already won a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for her role as Mary Lamb, a grieving cafeteria mother, in The Holdovers. She was nominated for a Tony for her stellar performance as Oda Mae Brown in Broadway’s Ghost: The Musical. And the scene-stealer just earned an Emmy nomination for her role as Detective Donna Williams in Hulu’s hilarious mystery Only Murders in the Building, which premieres its fourth season on August 27.
“Details about the show are being kept closely guarded,” Randolph, 38, tells Alexa, “but Detective Williams is known as a super serious, tough detective, and you’ll get to see her fangirl over a new character this season.” (The star knows it all: “I pinch myself every day that I get to work with such icons,” she says of veteran actors like Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Meryl Streep.)
The Philadelphia native and Yale Drama School graduate is as fashion-forward as she is talented, having been seen on the red carpet in custom pieces from Louis Vuitton, Rodarte, Zac Posen, and Christian Siriano.
But her real obsession? Glasses. “I’ve lost track of how many pairs of sunglasses I have. I wear glasses all the time (even though I don’t really need them),” she confesses. “When I was little, I would purposely fail my eye test so my mum would buy me glasses!”
Check out Randolph’s latest favorite shades, close-ups of the actor, body contouring, and a cool cocktail recipe.
