McMurray, who previously served as Grand Island mayor and attorney, is running to represent New York’s 26th Congressional District, which includes parts of Erie County and Niagara County in the western part of the state.
Some conservatives have slammed the U.S. for continuing to provide funding to Ukraine while it deals with the border crisis, saying the bill does not include money to secure U.S. borders. Some people voted against it.
“Today, I voted no…These bills are under an artificial process to achieve a predetermined outcome of a $100 billion unpaid foreign aid package while failing to secure our borders. ,” said Republican Rep. Chip Roy-Texas.

“For months, House Republicans, especially Speaker Mike Johnson, have made it clear that they would not send billions of dollars in additional aid to Ukraine without first securing its own borders. This represents a complete reversal of the position that previously unified the Republican conference, despite the clear and present danger to our national security at our southern border.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), a Trump supporter, criticized House Speaker Johnson (R-La.), who supported passage of the bill, as a “traitor to our country.” Mr Green is also leading the effort to oust Mr Johnson from the chair.
“President Zelenskiy thanks House Speaker Mike Johnson (D-Ukraine) for sending $61 billion of his hard-earned taxpayers’ money to foment foreign wars. With the Republican majority voting no, Prime Minister Johnson “Mike Johnson is not only a traitor to our Congress, he is a traitor to our country,” Greene tweeted Saturday.
