Democrat Henry Cuellar recently acknowledged that Donald Trump implemented effective border policies, resulting in a decrease in migration numbers.
Cuellar remarked, “You need the right policies, and President Trump has strayed from Biden’s, which I disagree with, because he favored catch-and-release.”
In a report from News Nation, Cuellar stated that unlike the Biden administration, “President Trump directed appropriate policies, steering clear of catch and release,” mentioning a drop in border numbers as other nations began to control the flow before migrants reached the U.S.
While addressing border funding in a recent settlement bill, Cuellar added, “The numbers declined even without the construction of additional walls. It’s crucial to consider many factors—having the right policies is essential.”
In June, Trump celebrated the border statistics. He claimed, “The border figures for June are out, and once again, they reflect the most recorded numbers in U.S. history.”
On True Social, he celebrated by saying, “Congratulations America! The border numbers for June show historic lows. The U.S. Border Patrol reported zero releases of illegal immigrants, with only 25,243 ‘national encounters’ for the month. That’s remarkable compared to the Biden administration’s figures, which often reached tens of thousands daily. Our borders are safe, and it’s crucial to maintain this. Republicans should push for a significant bill to solidify this progress. We’re still facing challenges from some left-leaning judges trying to undermine these efforts. It’s vital for Republicans to act decisively to prevent policy reversals that could lead us down a troubling path. The hard work of Border Patrol, ICE, and CBP agents is commendable, but they need more support from Republicans to keep our borders secure!”
