Democrats not responding to FACE Act accusations regarding disruption at Minnesota church

Democrats Silent on Prosecution of Church Vandals

A Democratic representative recently made waves with a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi, pushing for “full enforcement” of the FACE Act against pro-life protesters. However, when Fox News Digital inquired about whether similar action should be taken against church vandals in Minnesota, the representative declined to comment.

Currently, Bondi is taking action against those who disrupted a Baptist service on January 18 under the FACE Act. This leaves the Democrats who signed the letter in a bit of a bind: they could either back the prosecution, go against the same attorney general who supported them, or simply choose silence while Republicans call for legal consequences.

Back in March 2025, Representatives Sean Kasten, Jan Schakowsky, and Jerrold Nadler collaborated on a letter signed by 75 lawmakers, stating a commitment to enforce the FACE Act to protect women and healthcare providers from threats and harassment while seeking reproductive health services. In a statement, Bondi emphasized the importance of this enforcement.

Fox News Digital reached out to the offices of Kasten, Schakowsky, and Nadler to ask if they would support applying the law to the recent church disruptions in Minnesota. Yet, their responses were noticeably absent.

Charges Dismissed Against Don Lemon

Interestingly, one of the Baptist pastors involved has ties to local ICE operations. Meanwhile, the three lawmakers evaded questions about whether Bondi should pursue federal FACE Act charges against the agitators or if they had comments about the heckling of the pastor, particularly by former CNN host Don Lemon.

Efforts to contact other Democrats from the letter yielded limited responses, with only Rep. Eric Swalwell’s office acknowledging the situation, stating they were “looking into” it.

Pastor Calls Disruption ‘Shameful and Illegal’

The Democrats’ letter expressed concerns that limiting the Justice Department’s enforcement of the FACE Act would compromise the safety of patients and providers in reproductive healthcare. They affirmed the right to free speech but asserted that physical violence and intimidation are unacceptable.

The Act itself aims to balance the rights of abortion clinics with the First Amendment rights of religious practice.

Nonetheless, Bondi’s office is proceeding with charges against individuals involved in the church disruption, such as Chauntill Louisa Allen, a St. Paul school board member, and Nekima Levi Armstrong, identified as instrumental in organizing the protest.

Following the incident, Bondi tweeted a clear message against attacks on houses of worship.
