Something funny happened at last week’s Democratic National Convention: Not only did Kamala Harris steal Donald Trump’s no-tax-on-tips policy, but her party morphed before our very eyes into the MAGA Republicans.
Democrats who have in the past denigrated the American flag as racist and sometimes set it on fire were drowned in a sea of Stars and Stripes when Harris took the stage Thursday night.
At one point, Oprah was stealing Trump’s repeated refrain about “common sense.”
The next moment, Pete Buttigieg introduced himself to the crowd: “You may know me from Fox News.”
Tournament attendees wore camouflage hats, and entertainment included country singers from rural Alabama and uniformed sheriffs.
With chants of “USA! USA!”, Harris’s exhortations to God and country and Tim “Stolen Valor” Waltz’s sappy performance as a Midwestern conservative, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were at a Trump rally.
That’s exactly what Harris’s brain trust of sharp-eyed ex-Obama supporters would like you to think.
By transforming Komrade Camara into an ideological moderate, a tough-on-crime prosecutor and a hardliner on national security, they are making a blatant move to win over swing voters, independents and the 500,000 Republicans who voted for anyone but Trump in the Super Tuesday Republican primaries.
Shameless Wall
In her campaign videos, Harris also addressed Trump’s border wall, which she had previously denigrated and blocked.
“Fixing borders is hard,” the narrator says. “And so is Kamala Harris.”
The shamelessness is breathtaking. Since March 2021, Harris, the so-called “border czar” who has been in charge of the Biden administration’s fight against illegal immigration, has been responsible for the unbridled infiltration of over 10 million illegal immigrants across the southern border.
But now she’s described as an aggressive “border state prosecutor” with a history of fighting drug cartels that control the border, and tougher than Trump.
“Having worked in law enforcement for decades, I know the importance of safety and security, especially at the border,” she said with a straight face.
She was portrayed in the speech as “tough on crime,” despite being on record as praising the police defunding movement and calling out rioters at the height of the 2020 BLM and Antifa riots.
“They’re not going to stop,” she told Stephen Colbert in June 2020. “They’re not going to let up, and they shouldn’t let up.”
She even promoted a fundraising drive to bail out the rioters who destroyed Minneapolis.
She is the polar opposite of a law-and-order candidate, and the easiest way to understand her new persona is to realize that every position that came out of her mouth on Thursday is the polar opposite of the truth.
Her speech was a tongue-in-cheek jumble of poll-validated keywords aimed at easing well-founded concerns among conservatives that she was a far-left extremist in sheep’s clothing.
There was little murmuring of discontent at Harris’ sudden change of course from progressives in the room and from the media, who know exactly what’s going on.
In a video that went viral on social media, a speaker at the Democratic National Convention’s Congressional Black Caucus spilled the secret: “You have 70 days to do the right thing…. After the 70 days are up, you can go back to behaving like crazy.”
The people most excited about the Democratic National Convention were the militant Never-Trumpists, who hate former President Trump so much that they are willing to abandon all conservative principles to curry favor with the left.
Bill Kristol, for example, the Iraq War’s biggest cheerleader, was quick to endorse Harris and praised former CIA director Leon Panetta, one of the unrepentant “Dirty 51” liars who falsely claimed Hunter Biden’s laptop was Russian disinformation, for his primetime appearance on Thursday.
“Leon Panetta quotes Ronald Reagan!” Kristol tweeted. “My favorite Democratic convention.”
Among the traitor Republicans given prime-time speaking slots was former Rep. Adam Kinzinger, Nancy Pelosi’s favorite traitor at the committee meeting on January 6. “Democrats are just as patriotic as Republicans,” he gushed.
Afterwards, he told CNN that Ms Harris’ speech was “really good. Trump ceded a lot of ground in traditionally Republican territory.” [such as] National Defense…Kamala came and took the land. [on] Immigration [and] “Ukraine. If you’re a Republican and you’re undecided, I think it’s going to be hard not to vote for Kamala now.”
He’s a cheap date.
Harris’s skilled speechwriters peppered her speech with enough stoke-the-wool quotes to satisfy neocon circles, claiming that she had “confronted threats to our national security, negotiated with foreign leaders, and strengthened alliances.”
She bragged that she met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Munich Security Conference in February 2022 and “warned him about Russian aggression plans” — as if it wasn’t obvious that Russian troops were massing on Ukraine’s border.
One audience member who saw her performance in Munich was surprised that she was so embarrassed that she made a point of it in her speech. Five days later, Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine. So if that wasn’t her aim, she failed miserably.
As part of her new persona, Harris wore conservative navy pantsuits rather than her usual preferred pastels and made no big deal about being a woman.
After years of denouncing toxic masculinity, especially its pallid shades, Democrats are now inviting “white men for Kamala” to the floor—except, as CNN’s Dana Bash pointed out, these aren’t “testosterone-fueled, gun-toting types who want to listen to Hulk Hogan,” but rather submissive men who know their place in a matriarchal society, like Waltz and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff.

The antidote to the confusing “Alice in Wonderland” bubble of the Democratic National Convention was Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s sincere and thoughtful endorsement of Trump on Friday.
“How did Democrats pick a candidate who never gave an interview or a debate during the campaign? We know the answer: They did it by weaponizing the institutions of government. They did it by abandoning democracy,” Kennedy said.
“They’ve done it by silencing opponents and disenfranchising American voters. What concerns me most is not how Democrats are running their party or their candidates. What concerns me is their resort to censorship, control of the media, and weaponization of federal agencies.”
“In one speech, he exposed the smokescreens and mirrors of the Democratic National Convention and showed how hollow the party’s appeals to ‘freedom’ are.
Harris-Waltz freedom means forcing people to cooperate with and pay for large government projects like “free” college, “free” child care, Medicare for all, price fixing, and taxing nonexistent profits.
It is freedom from FBI censorship and CIA lies, freedom from SWAT raids on pro-life Christian homes and state spying at Catholic Mass. It is freedom from Mao and Stalin and authoritarians everywhere.
It’s hard to argue with the outpouring of joy that Harris’ promotion generated.
