Deporting criminal illegal aliens from sanctuary city will ‘take a lifetime,’ warns NYC ICE director

Kenneth Gennaro, director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement's New York City field office, warned that “it will take a lifetime” to deport criminal illegal aliens currently residing in the city.

Henaro expressed interest in testifying before the City Council to “educate” far-left members of the dangers of the city's current policies.

“The only people they're protecting are criminals, and they're protecting criminals from us,” he told the Post.

“Most of the crimes that are being committed today are against the most vulnerable people in our communities, immigrant women and immigrant children. I don’t understand how you can believe that,” Henaro explained.

Of the approximately 7.8 million illegal aliens in the country as of July 21, more than 660,000 were convicted felons or had pending criminal charges, according to ICE data.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) also previously called on the City Council to repeal the sanctuary policy.

“The mayor knows we need to work together,” Gennaro told the news outlet. “He understands what's going on in New York City and wants help from the federal government.”

Meanwhile, New York Governor Kathy Hochul (Democratic Party) criticized the Biden administration The move comes after Customs and Border Protection announced Tuesday it would reduce operating hours at many ports of entry, including four along the northern New York border.

“While the Biden-Harris Administration has seen tangible success in strengthening southern border security, New York has seen a dramatic increase in irregular crossings along our northern border,” Hochul said.

“Today, we need to expand enforcement at our northern border. I call on U.S. Customs and Border Protection to reverse this decision.”
