Dierks Bentley Reflects on Sleep Arrangements with His Wife
Dierks Bentley is getting candid about his sleeping situation. This week, the country star discussed the unique circumstances he requires to get a good night’s rest and how it’s influenced his sleeping arrangements with his wife, Cassidy Bentley, with whom he’s been married for 20 years.
“My wife often asks, ‘Did you sleep last night?’ And honestly, we don’t share the same room anymore,” Bentley, 49, shared during a recent appearance on the “Bobby Cast” podcast. “We’ve moved past that.”
He noted that while Cassidy seems to fall asleep almost instantly, he needs a specific setup with three pillows. Bentley added, “She sleeps, I guess I can feel it, and I notice if I move even a little.”
He mentioned that years ago, he made the decision to create separate sleeping spaces for them. “I basically separated the church and state, got two platform beds and mattresses so we’d both be comfortable,” he explained.
In fact, they each have their own duvets with a clear gap between the beds, coyly saying, “There’s a distinct line between her side and my side.” Bentley even likened it to having separate stops on a truck, which seems… practical, perhaps?
Recently, he considered alternatives like sleeping on the sofa or in a spare room because he struggles to fall asleep easily. He even joked that “we need to get back to the same room when the touring ends,” suggesting they might return to shared quarters soon.
He laughed, saying, “We’re planning to try it out this year; that’s a big goal.” Yet, his sleep issues don’t just vanish at home. When on the road, he often faces sleepless nights, describing it as getting “zero point zero” rest, which makes winding down a challenge.
Bentley shared that he’s tried everything for his restless nights, finding that sometimes his exhaustion oddly enhances his performances. “Yeah, it makes the show more raw and emotional. I might get a little tearful, even.” He admitted that his fatigue gives his voice a unique gravelly quality, which oddly works for entertaining the audience—but it’s tough on him.
After being on the road, getting a good night’s sleep becomes his utmost priority. Bentley and Cassidy’s story is interesting; they first met in middle school but went their separate ways until marrying in December 2005. “It’s wild how we kept crossing paths at either the right or wrong times,” he reflected.
Recently, he mentioned having something special planned for their 20th anniversary, hinting at a potential hike up Kilimanjaro—though he’s not entirely sure that’ll pan out. “We just eloped to Mexico when we got married. But I think now, as we’ve gotten older, celebrating these victories feels more important,” he mused.
The couple has three children together: Evalyn, 16; Jordan, 14; and Knox, 12.
