DNC invokes Musk in first-ever ad buy for Wisconsin Supreme Court race

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) began purchasing its first ads on Friday, targeting Elon Musk and the millions he injected into the Wisconsin Supreme Court race, previewing what could be a broader strategy for the party going forward.

The DNC ad, scheduled for Tuesday in seven local Wisconsin newspapers, aimed at $19 million in musk, and his associated PAC spent on behalf of conservative candidate Brad Schemmel on behalf of conservative candidate Brad Schemmel in the High Stakes Supreme Court election to decide whether the court will maintain its current 4-3 liberal majority.

“The Musk threatened Medicare and ruined Social Security Services, but now he believes he can buy a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court,” DNC Chairman Ken Martin said in a statement Friday. “So today, the DNC is out in the first paid media that explicitly calls for masks for his attempts to interfere in the Wisconsin election.”

DNC officials told Fox News Digital that the ads will run in seven local newspapers across the state. The Chippewa Herald, Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter, Beloit Daily News, Daily Jefferson County Union, Janesville Gazette, Watertown Daily Times, Oshkosh Northwestern – Wisconsin is not for sale.

“The Wisconsinists are not super-rich, they deserve Supreme Court judges looking for them,” Martin said. “Now and forever, Wisconsin is not on sale.”

Wisconsin's closely monitored state Supreme Court is already the most expensive judicial election in US history, far surpassing the $56 million spent on competition for the state Supreme Court just two years ago, according to figures compiled by the Center for Brennan Center for Justice.

Musk's two super PACs spent over $17 million on behalf of Shimel, but Musk personally donated $3 million to the Wisconsin Republicans earlier this year. This is the funds that can be used for Shimel's campaign.

Democrats view it as a basis for fertile evidence to test attacks on masks, maintaining Wisconsin's key state Supreme Court seat and preparing for the 2026 medium-term elections.

The effectiveness of the advertising campaign in Wisconsin, which narrowly elected Trump in both the 2016 and 2024 presidential contests, has yet to be seen.

But that can make masks as Democrats struggle to combine unified messages in the aftermath of the 2024 election.
