Luxury Dog Collars at Baccarat Hotel
In an eye-catching collaboration with the Baccarat Hotel in New York, affluent dog owners now have the chance to adorn their pets with extravagant 18-karat gold and diamond custom collars, some priced at an astonishing $150,000. D Diamond, a jeweler focused on canine fashion, is leading this unique venture.
“There are different levels of jewelry. I would categorize it as fine jewelry,” said Monica Bates, one of D Diamond’s clients.
It feels like every dog gets a moment in the spotlight, especially when sporting a collar that’s worth six figures. Bates was among potential buyers at a recent showcase named “Diamonds are a Dog’s Best Friend,” held at the luxurious Midtown hotel.
Bates, who has a miniature poodle named Hari, previously gifted him a $1,200 silver chain. The “Canine Couture Diamond Experience” is marketed as a luxury offering tailored for discerning dog owners.
For context, D Diamond’s Baccarat collection starts at $1,984 for a ruby-studded Paw Deluxe Harness Charm, going all the way up to over $150,000 for a heart bone collar. This design is available in both yellow and white gold, adorned with D-colored diamonds and other precious stones.
The exclusive chain is available through invitation only for clients with a history of purchases, reminiscent of the lavish gifts given to football stars.
Prices fluctuate based on the size—after all, not all dog necks are the same—and the extent of customization, as well as whether lab-grown or natural diamonds are chosen.
Each collar features unique elements for Baccarat guests. For example, it includes a distinctive ruby, celebrating Baccarat’s famed red crystal, while the bespoke charm exhibits a special ‘DD x Baccarat’ design embellished with rubies.
There’s also the option to engrave your dog’s name, making it even more personal.
Unlike the average dog owner scouring jewelers for something special, clients of the Diamond Experience enjoy a more private and luxurious shopping process.
With dazzling adornments starting from around $2,000 and peaking at $150,000, there’s something for every high-end taste.
Aligning with the bespoke theme, human clients are treated to an exclusive in-suite consultation at the hotel, complete with champagne from Baccarat to ensure the collar is a perfect fit.
“I believe everything should be tailored to the customer,” said Racheli Waters Shamir, the founder of D Diamond.
Shamir shared that her inspiration for this luxury brand stemmed from her quest for something truly unique for her own dog. “I couldn’t find anything, so I made it,” she recalled.
In a world grappling with rising costs, where couples are spending big on lab-grown engagement rings, some might find it hard to justify a six-figure splurge for dog accessories.
However, Shamir emphasized that her brand places a priority on exceptional craftsmanship and personalization over mere flashy appeal.
“From the start, I didn’t consider D Diamond New York as ‘pet jewelry.’ I saw it as a fine jewelry house for dogs,” she explained.
Interestingly, D Diamond also reports that it donates 10% of its annual profits to dog shelters in New York City, giving a charitable twist to its lavish enterprise.
Moreover, some representatives and customers believe that these luxurious pieces could be worn by humans too.
“It’s definitely for the dog, but if I receive compliments while wearing this, I consider it a win,” Bates remarked.
The Canine Couture Diamond Experience is available now through June.
