Don Jr. Brings Up 'The View' Host's 'Promise' to Wear MAGA Hat If Trump Released Hostages

UPDATE ON ISRAELI HOSTAGES

Donald Trump Jr. recently highlighted a moment from a past episode of The View, where co-host Alyssa Farrah Griffin made a promise to wear a MAGA hat if President Donald Trump managed to secure the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas.

Following the announcement that the last 20 surviving Israeli hostages were freed under a peace agreement facilitated by President Trump, Trump Jr. shared a video on X. He encouraged viewers to “Send this to the top. Let’s go.”

In the original segment, Griffin had stated, “I promise if he shows goodwill and rescues the Israeli hostages, I’ll wear a MAGA hat for the entire show and say, ‘Thank you for doing that.'” Co-host Sonny Hostin quickly interrupted with, “Don’t do that,” prompting Griffin to quip that Hostin might “get hit over the head.” She continued by emphasizing the need to celebrate victories while also denouncing any wrongdoing.

This discussion resurfaced in light of the hostages’ release, stemming from negotiations led by President Trump alongside international leaders from Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye. The agreement allowed for the return of the remaining prisoners captured during the attack on October 7, 2023. It’s worth noting that approximately 1,200 individuals lost their lives in that assault.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) acknowledged the importance of this development, referring to it as a “great day.” He praised the tireless efforts of the hostage families, President Trump, and the administration for making this moment happen. Former President Bill Clinton also mentioned that Trump’s team “deserves great credit” for their role in securing the peace agreement.

During the historic signing ceremony in Sharm el-Sheikh, President Trump co-authored the peace document alongside leaders from Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, Italy, and the UK. He announced that Israel and Hamas had agreed to the initial phase of a peace deal following the release of the remaining hostages, stating that “the prayers of millions have finally been answered.” Earlier, he had addressed the Israeli parliament, remarking that this moment symbolized “not only the end of war but also a new era of faith and hope.”

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) commented that this progress brought “lasting peace within reach” in the region and deemed the day one of “deep hope and joy for the entire free world.”

On a different note, Iranian state media reported that Hamas insisted it had “made every effort” to safeguard the hostages, despite reports of abuse during their captivity. The hostages were transferred to the Red Cross in three separate groups before being handed over to Israeli forces. Emotional reunions between the freed individuals and their families have been captured in various reports.

Among those released was Evyatar David, who appeared visibly thin and malnourished, yet safely made it back to Israel. As part of the ceasefire agreement, the bodies of 28 deceased hostages are expected to be returned.
