Ellen Barkin Urges to Destroy ICE Following Shooting Involving Violent Undocumented Immigrant

Actress Ellen Barkin Sparks Controversy Over Immigration Enforcement Incident

Actress Ellen Barkin has stirred up significant backlash against federal immigration officers following an incident in which ICE agents shot a gang member and illegal immigrant in New York City.

On social media last Friday, Barkin reacted to a reporter’s post about the wounding of Oscar Belgal, who was a gang member and an undocumented immigrant from the Bronx. Her response was pointed; she wrote, “Burn ICE to the ground.”

Belgal, who was being investigated by the Department of Homeland Security for involvement in gang activities, reportedly attempted to use his vehicle to hit immigration agents. They responded by opening fire, resulting in a non-life-threatening graze wound to his neck.

This incident drew a strong response from New York’s socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who called for the abolition of ICE. In turn, DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin labeled the mayor’s comments as “dangerous,” claiming they could incite further hostility.

Despite ongoing criticism from the left regarding ICE’s actions, Mullin emphasized that the Department of Homeland Security is committed to apprehending dangerous criminal migrants for deportation.

He stated, “Sanctuary politicians create environments where criminal activities can flourish, rather than ensuring safety for law-abiding citizens.” Referring to the previous administration, he noted President Trump’s determination to restore law and order, contrasting that with current political dynamics that prioritize criminals over public safety.

Mullin added that the officers acted out of fear for their safety as Belgal used his car aggressively, even putting his own child at risk during the altercation.

DHS official Marcos Charles supported this, stating, “The officers, using their training and believing that their lives, the lives of their partners, and the general public were in danger, fired their weapons.”

Barkin, known for her extreme rhetoric, has a history of making inflammatory statements against those who oppose her views. Last November, she controversially claimed there was “no difference” between ICE agents and Nazis. Additionally, in a previous incident, she expressed satisfaction that former DHS Secretary Kristi Noem was hospitalized, using derogatory language to describe her.

Moreover, Barkin has previously shared bizarre conspiracy theories, such as suggesting that assassination attempts on President Trump were staged.
