Another day, another round of matches. So far the games between the lower ranked teams have been more exciting, at least in terms of goals, than those between the tournament’s favourites.

Take yesterday’s match between the Netherlands and France. It took a good 60 minutes for either team to kick into gear, and even then the biggest talking point was Xavi Simons’ disallowed goal.

On paper, that was the match of the day but I much preferred watching Austria dismantle Poland in the other Group D game. Austria’s attacking play was impressive and the win should give them confidence going into their final group match against the Netherlands.

preamble

Hello and welcome to our EURO 2024 news blog.

A new day, a new round of matches. So far, the matches between lower-ranked teams have been more exciting than those between the title favourites, at least in terms of goals scored.

Take yesterday’s Netherlands v France match for example: it took both teams about 60 minutes to get going, and even then the biggest talking point was Xavi Simons’ disallowed goal.

On paper, this was the match of the day, but I would have much preferred to see Austria beat Poland in the other match in Group D. Austria’s attacking play was impressive and this win will give them some confidence going into their final group match against the Netherlands.

So let’s take a look at today’s matches as Georgia takes on Czech Republic, Turkey takes on Portugal, and Belgium takes on Romania. Refresh this page to get the latest updates and post your comments. X.
