Ex-Biden staffer: Administration is not clear about Trump’s lack of public presence

Former Biden aide: Admin not 'transparent' about Trump's absence from public spotlight

Concerns Surround Trump’s Public Absence

On Monday, former Biden administration aide Meghan Hayes criticized the Trump administration’s lack of transparency regarding President Trump’s recent absence from public events, suggesting it could be linked to health issues.

Hayes noted on CNN’s “The Lead,” “In August, he manages a 26-day public engagement and interacts with the press. Yet, he disappears for six days, posting on social media in a manner that confuses many.” She added, “I think people are starting to wonder. The president can manage to appear shortly after August, like he usually does. But the thing is, we just don’t know what’s going on, and they’re not being open about it.”

Over the Labor Day weekend, Trump was seen at a Virginia golf club after having canceled several consecutive days of public appearances. His social media posts have mostly focused on the administration’s approach to crime in Washington, D.C., as well as plans for other cities like Chicago. He also commented on economic concerns, including gas prices, sharing a graphic that read “America is hot,” coupled with an image of flames around his face.

Speculation surrounding his health has intensified since the White House revealed earlier this year that the 79-year-old president is dealing with chronic venous deficiency, a condition that causes leg swelling and significant bruising on hands.

Notably, during last week’s cabinet meeting, visible bruises on the makeup-covered president raised eyebrows. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt had mentioned that he had been waving frequently, and that using aspirin could exacerbate his condition. “This is a known benign side effect of aspirin therapy,” she explained to reporters in July. “The president is in excellent health, which I think we can observe here daily.”

Responding to health rumors, Trump stated on Sunday that he had “never felt better.” Speculation heightened after Vice President Vance indicated in a recent interview that he was prepared to assume control if anything were to happen to the president. “Yes, that would be a terrible tragedy,” he remarked, adding, “But I’m very confident the President is in good shape.”

Furthermore, he mentioned, “If, God forbid, a tragedy occurs, I can’t think of better real-time training than the experience I’ve gained over the past 200 days.”

Eric Trump, the president’s son, also dismissed health worries, labeling them as a misguided conspiracy pushed by the left. “The radical left is very sick and twisted…” he commented in response to rumors circulating on the platform X about his father’s well-being.

The Hill has reached out to the White House for further comments.
