Ex-Girlfriend Alleges Thomas Massie Tried to Pay Her $5,000 to Drop Lawsuit

Republican Representative Thomas Massie from Renobackstubber, Kentucky, is in quite a questionable situation as he navigates a primary race that many would hope to avoid. Now, he’s caught up in a scandal that raises eyebrows.

Cynthia West alleges that while they were dating in 2024, Massie offered her a job in Representative Victoria Spartz’s office (R-Ind.). She accepted because their relationship was, you know, “very intense, very romantic,” and she felt he “wanted her to go everywhere.”

West claims that later on, she ended things with Massie due to his demands for her to “do things” that made her uncomfortable. She also mentions emotional abuse from him.

Interestingly, West was employed at Spartz’s office for only six weeks before getting fired.

She subsequently filed a wrongful termination lawsuit, designating Massie as a witness.

In an interview with Axios, she recalled trying to reach out to Massie, who, according to her, was furious and told her, “You’re just one person, you can’t make a change, you just need to walk away.”

During this time, she asserted that he offered her hush money: “He had $5,000 and said he would give it to me if I would leave,” although she turned it down.

Moreover, she claimed the Office of Congressional Ethics proposed a $60,000 settlement, contingent on a non-disclosure agreement, which she also declined.

Massie has refuted all allegations of misconduct during an appearance on Fox News, expressing disappointment over the timing of the claims, saying, “It’s sad that a week before this election, people are making false and unsubstantiated claims about me in a clear attempt to influence the outcome of this election,” and insisted that “All claims of inappropriate conduct are false.”

It’s hard to say what the truth is.

Let’s not ignore that Massie previously took a rather smug approach in discussing the Epstein files. I really don’t care about the person he offended. At one point, he even accused former Attorney General Pam Bondi of being involved in a cover-up.

“We don’t have to go back to Biden. Let’s go back to Obama. Let’s go back to George Bush. This cover-up has been going on for decades, and you are responsible for this part,” he stated at a hearing in February.

This situation reminds me a little of the political embarrassment surrounding former Representative Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), who faced serious trouble over similar allegations of inappropriate behavior. While the accusations against Swalwell were more severe than those against Massie, they forced Swalwell to halt his campaign for governor of California before leaving Congress.

Massie likely won’t resign, but if voters in Kentucky are wise, they might just decide to let him go next Tuesday. He and his self-righteous attitude could then share space with the self-righteousness of Dan Crenshaw and Indiana’s State Senators.
