A post shared on Facebook claimed to show a photo of the solar eclipse as seen from space. This image shows the sun being blocked by the moon above the earth.

The caption reads, “Total solar eclipse seen from space.”

That claim is inaccurate. This image is from an artist named. Ryunosuke Takeshige Social media accounts. This image was posted on his website on the artist platform Artstation in 2014. According to Reuters, the artist claimed the image was first created in 2009.

Takeshige’s Twitter account I recognize him as an artist. The account profile states, “Freelance scientific illustrator specializing in astronomy, creating illustrations for press releases and academic papers.
