FBI Concludes Investigation into Trump Assassination Attempt
The FBI has wrapped up its investigation into an assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump, determining that Thomas Matthew Crooks acted alone and without a clear motive.
In a recent interview with Fox News, both FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino provided insights into their findings shortly after a documentary by Tucker Carlson suggested foreign involvement in the incident.
“We have reviewed this case over and over — looked into every nugget,” Bongino remarked. “We have spoken to the families, the president — there is no cover-up here. There is no motive for it, there is no reason for it.”
Crooks attempted the assassination on July 23, 2024, by stealthily approaching the roof of a rally where Trump was speaking. His actions led to the death of 50-year-old Corey Comperatore, a volunteer firefighter and father.
“Dan and I have been on this since we got here eight months ago. We not only had to maintain the chain of command to President Trump, but we had to remind the world that President Trump was the victim – one of the four victims – on that day,” Patel stated. “There are victims’ rights rules that apply to him, and they don’t get erased because he is the president.”
Patel added that the investigation was thoroughly communicated to Trump, who was reportedly satisfied with the conclusions drawn.
An FBI official involved in the investigation elaborated on the scrutiny of Crooks’s online activities, including social media and financial accounts.
“We looked into 35 accounts linked to Crooks, including social media, bank, and other online accounts,” the official said.
“The FBI has been able to access all of the accounts,” they clarified. “There has been reporting to inappropriately and incorrectly state that there was encryption that we weren’t able to penetrate – that is not true. We accessed every single account.”
“The FBI was able to fully access those accounts within days of the attack,” they continued. “Additionally, we engaged with foreign partners who provided all of the content from those email accounts.”
“When we had a lead about an overseas connection — which came up twice — the FBI reached out to foreign governments,” the official noted. “There is no foreign connection in this case. No individual outside or inside U.S. borders played any role in directing or assisting him in any way.”
This announcement follows Carlson’s inquiry on November 14th, which focused on Crooks’s online comments and his interactions with a user known as “Willy_Tepes,” linked to a designated foreign terrorist organization. According to the investigation, Crooks had made several comments on YouTube advocating for political violence.
“The only way to fight the gov is with terrorism-style attacks… track down any important people/politicians/military leaders etc. and try to assassinate them,” Crooks wrote in an August 5, 2020, comment.
“If a gun and a badge is all that is needed, then authority obviously comes from the barrel of a gun. We have more guns than they do ;),” was a response from the “Willy_Tepes” user.
While these details may raise eyebrows, the FBI maintains their conclusion stands firm: Crooks acted alone, without external influence.
