Fetterman Optimistic About Trump’s Gaza Peace Deal
Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman is expressing hope that the recently brokered peace deal regarding Gaza could pave the way for lasting peace in the Middle East. He praised the Phase One agreement and commended President Trump’s leadership in helping to resolve the two-year conflict between Israel and Hamas.
“I think this is an incredibly comprehensive plan,” Fetterman shared during an appearance on “America’s Newsroom.” He went on to note that both Hamas and Israel have shown commitment to this initiative. Additionally, he mentioned the support from neighboring Arab nations, such as Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar, who are urging Hamas to accept the deal, suggesting it is their best opportunity for a resolution. “So I’m actually optimistic this week. There is a chance for lasting peace,” he stated.
Fetterman, known for his strong pro-Israel stance, applauded the efforts made against Hamas and Hezbollah, as well as America’s actions aimed at curbing Iran’s nuclear ambitions. He reiterated his belief that his party should have consistently supported Israel during this conflict.
He also acknowledged Trump’s “very strong commitment” to Israel, supporting various measures the President undertook, including the attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities under Operation Midnight Hammer.
Reflecting on the situation, he remarked, “I think I was probably the only Democrat who supported them through this, and I think it’s totally appropriate to celebrate this today.” He expressed relief that the war has concluded, allowing those affected to return home. “I don’t think I can understand why anyone would react any other way,” he added.
Fetterman echoed sentiments regarding Trump potentially deserving a Nobel Peace Prize for advancing the peace deal. He suggested that if Trump can also contribute to resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict, he would be equally deserving of such an honor.
