Mr. Trump secured an overwhelming majority of the male vote in the 2024 election cycle, making notable gains among black, Latino, and young male voters.

Fetterman recalled a 2016 event in which he noted Trump's resonance with male voters and what he thought was a poor response from the party.

“I was doing an event with steelworkers across the street from where I live, and I noticed something. [a] It's a different kind of energy than Trump. At the time, it was clear that people were voting for Trump. And the Democratic response was, 'Are they not smart enough to realize that they're voting against their own interests? ’,” he said.

“And it's insulting, and I mean, it's not helpful. It's condescending. And it just kind of reinforces those kinds of stereotypes.”
