Fetterman Dismisses AOC’s Push for Trump’s Impeachment Over Iran Strikes

Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman expressed skepticism regarding Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s call for impeachment related to President Trump’s recent military action in Iran. He stated that such proposals “will not go anywhere,” emphasizing that the President has already faced impeachment twice.

During an appearance on Fox News, Fetterman commented, “She knows it. I know it. We all know it… it’s not going anywhere. Bringing it up is useful.” His remarks seem to reflect a broader sentiment among some lawmakers, particularly regarding the feasibility of impeachment in this context.

Trump recently executed a military operation named “Operation Midnight Hammer,” which involved airstrikes on key Iranian nuclear facilities without prior approval from Congress. This action has sparked significant criticism, including from Ocasio-Cortez, who described it as a “serious violation of the constitution.”

In her response, she stated that the President’s decision to bomb Iran unilaterally could set a dangerous precedent. It’s worth noting that some members of his own party have also raised concerns about this approach.

Fetterman, who has a history of supporting Israel and criticizing Iran, mentioned that labeling Trump’s actions as “impulsive” minimizes the potential consequences of an escalation toward war, suggesting that such language could bore down the gravity of the situation.

Trump characterized the operation as “a grand military success” in a subsequent address, highlighting the use of B-2 stealth bombers targeting primarily the Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear sites. While Fetterman affirmed his criticism of Iran, he maintained that the reactions to Trump’s recent actions should be measured and thoughtful.
