Disappearance of Lynette Hooker Raises Questions
ELBOW CAY, Bahamas — A bartender from the Abaco Inn, where Brian and Lynette Hooker spent their last evening, expressed skepticism about the timeline surrounding Lynette’s disappearance. Ken, the bartender, noted that the events reported seem inconsistent.
Ken, 38, observed the Hookers on April 3, relaxing by the pool with drinks in hand—rum and cola. He described Brian as “quite tall” with visible tattoos.
According to Ken, the couple arrived at about 4:30 p.m., with Lynette heading to the pool ahead of Brian. He recalled Brian ordering two rums and a coke, paying in cash but not engaging much in conversation.
About 90 minutes later, Brian returned for another round of drinks. Ken mentioned that Brian appreciated the swift service in what was a busy evening at the bar. “He was like, ‘Oh my gosh, thanks for the prompt service’…because it was busy,” Ken recounted.
Ken didn’t notice anything amiss during the evening, although he mentioned he never saw Lynette. “I was definitely shocked when I heard about it the next day. But again, I couldn’t see the woman or talk to her,” he said.
While the couple spent roughly two and a half hours at the bar and pool area, Ken’s interaction with Brian didn’t stand out significantly to him. Yet, as someone familiar with the local waterways, he found some discrepancies troubling concerning what happened afterward.
“It’s strange… it’s strange that he went from here to there and ended up in Marsh Harbor, and no one saw the woman,” Ken remarked, referring to the couple’s boat, titled Soulmate, which Brian had moored just a few miles from Elbow Cay.
He noted, “What caught my eye was that they left here at 7 o’clock, and she went missing shortly after. Brian didn’t reach Marsh Harbor until around 4 a.m., and that was with 25 mph winds.” Ken questioned the logistics, stressing, “It’s only four miles. It shouldn’t take eight to ten hours to get there. Even if we were just floating, we should get there faster.”
Lynette has been missing since that night. Brian was detained on Wednesday concerning her disappearance but was released on Monday after authorities opted not to file charges. He informed police that Lynette had fallen from their small dinghy while they were returning to their boat and denied any involvement in her disappearance.
